Paratene™ S1 is a blend of chelating agents and surfactants designed to be added to Caustic Solutions to aid in the dissolving of crystalline and amorphous silica deposits from steam and water treatment systems.
Paratene™ S1 reacts directly with the Silica dissolving it, and tying up the metal ions, preventing redeposition. The product reacts even in the presence of divalent cations such as calcium and magnesium that block the use of Hydrogen Fluoride.
- Good scale dissolution at temperatures between 60 - 90°C
- Biodegradable
- Dissolves both Crystalline and Amorphous silicates
- Attacks Alumino-silicates
- Non-Flammable
- Non-Toxic
Paratene™ S1 should be applied at a concentration of 7% in a 15% Sodium Hydroxide solution. It needs to be heated to at least 60°C and allowed to contact the deposit for at least 6 hours preferably 12 – 24 hours.
It can be neutralized after use to form a non-toxic solution.
Paratene™ S1 was tested and compared to various solvents including water and 15% NaOH on various samples (1-3) from refineries and pulp mills.
