Paratene™ S780 Calcium and Barium Sulphate Dissolver

Paratene™ S780 is a blend of chelating agents and surfactants in a Caustic Solution. It has been designed to treat out hard to remove Calcium sulphate and barium sulphate deposits without the use of acids.

Paratene™ S780 sequesters the Calcium and Barium ions in solution, preventing redeposition. Paratene™ S780 has an excellent iron tolerance as compared to phosphonate containing chelants that fall out in the presence of iron.

Methods of Application

Paratene™ S780 is intended to be applied neat with no dilution. The contaminated system can be cascaded, circulated or soaked to remove sulphate based deposits. To get best results the solution should be heated between 60°C and 80°C. The solution should then be allowed to soak or circulated for 4 – 6 hours while maintaining the temperature above 60°C. Higher temperature will give a better reaction rate. 

The system should be flushed with water to flush out any undissolved deposits. In some cases multiple applications may be required due to flow restrictions.
